Organization
The Plant Sciences Institute is an umbrella organization over a group of centers, each focused on specific areas of the plant sciences.
- Center for Plant Genomics
- Laurence H. Baker Center for Bioinformatics and Biological Statistics
- Center for Plant Transformation
- Raymond F. Baker Center for Plant Breeding
- Center for Metabolic Biology
- Center for Plant Responses to Environmental Stresses
In addition, two existing centers administered by the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station are part of the institute.
- Seed Science Center
- Center for Crops Utilization Research
And, one existing center administered by the College of Human Sciences is part of the institute.
- Center for Designing Foods to Improve Nutrition
The institute and its centers involve faculty and staff members in some 32 departments of Iowa State, but primarily involve the colleges of Agriculture, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Sciences and Human Sciences. The institute has a director who reports to the vice provost for research. In addition, each center has a director.
