Plants and Climate Change
Join us on Arbor Day, April 25, 2008, to educate and address ourselves to the important issues of climate change.
Climate change is real and each of us should take action at a local or global level. In its most recent Assessment Report, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stated, "Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global average sea level."
Climate change is predicted to have a major impact on agriculture and our environment. But the challenge also creates opportunity.
For its part, the Plant Sciences Institute at Iowa State University has a adopted a theme of "Plants and Climate Change."
