Governance
The Institute is guided by three governance groups, which operate in an advisory capacity to the Provost or to the Institute Director.
The PSI Board has the highest authority - providing the broad vision and setting the strategic direction for the Institute. The Board represents many of the stakeholders to the Institute, including Iowa State University administrators, business leaders, renowned scientists and representatives from the government, foundations and commodity groups. The Board is charged with representing the Institute to the university, the state and other public and private sector institutions in public awareness campaigns and fundraising efforts.
The Plant Sciences Council reports to the Institute Director and is charged with programmatic and budget issues and overseeing the operation of the institute centers and task forces. The Council is composed of the center directors, the leader of the Task Force on Public Policy, Iowa State University members-at-large, ex-officio representatives from the ISU Foundation, and University Communications faculty also attend Council activities.
